20 Cleveland restaurants with the most food inspection violations
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Here are the Cleveland restaurants with the most food inspection violations during the inspection year of March 2015 to February 2016, according to state records. Separately search the food inspection database at cleveland.com/datacentral for more details about the inspections in Cleveland and inspections at other restaurants across the state.
Each restaurant in Ohio is inspected at least twice a year. Other places handling food to a lesser extent may be inspected once.
Some violations are minor. Some can be disturbing. Many problems are fixed at the time of the inspection. Though health inspectors cannot impose fines, health departments hold the threat of suspending or revoking licenses for businesses to operate.
The list shows the name of the business, based on records from the Ohio Department of Health. Some businesses operate under variations of those names. Omitted from this slideshow are gas stations, because food is not their primary business. Gas stations that otherwise would have made the list are:
- Rain Gas Inc., 3350 East 116th St. - 35 violations.
- King Marathon, 11500 St. Clair Ave. - 28 violations.
- Sunoco Family Foods Express, 3363 East 93rd St. - 27 violations.
- Speedy's Market, 4025 East 131st St. - 27 violations.
