Smoke from wildfires in eastern Canada that has made its way to parts of the United States has caused states to issue air quality alerts due to the amount of smoke in the air.
The Ohio EPA on Wednesday afternoon issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory as the smoke continues to impact air quality. The advisory is in effect through Wednesday, though air quality will likely remain at unhealthy levels through Thursday.
You can help bring some relief to you and your loved ones with an air purifier.
An air purifier combines a filter and fan to pull “unwanted particles from the air in a specific room,” according to Filtrete. From there, purified air is circulated into the room. The air purifier does this many times and continually boosts the quality of the air in the room where it’s located.

“When air quality is in this range, people who are in sensitive groups (due to medical conditions, exposure conditions, or innate susceptibility) may experience health effects during outdoor activities,” the Ohio EPA said in a statement. “To decrease the potential for health issues, sensitive groups of people (children, elderly, people with asthma or COPD) should limit prolonged or strenuous outdoor activity.”
The National Weather Service says the smoke will linger throughout the weekend and heavy smoke has been seen in places like New York State.
The smoke is coming from a rash of wildfires in Quebec and will hang around in some areas, according to The Weather Channel.
Many regions in the U.S. are being impacted including New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, in portions of the Great Lakes and more. Many of the areas have air quality that is “unhealthy for sensitive groups,” the Weather Channel said.
