RICHFIELD, Ohio -- Here is the police blotter for Richfield, Ohio, for June 5-11, 2023.

Harassing communication: Brecksville Road

On June 8, a man called police to complain about an incident at Subway.

The man said he ordered a sub, went to the drink cooler to get a beverage, and came back to find his sub was already made and wrapped up. The man said this upset him because he was never asked what toppings he wanted on his sandwich or if he wanted it toasted. A verbal argument began between the man and the Subway employee, and the man said he felt he was treated unfairly because he is Black.

Police spoke with the store employee, who said the man picked up the sub, threw it in the trash, and demanded the Subway employee to make his sandwich again. The man was asked to leave the store.

Police advised the man to make a formal complaint with Subway’s corporate office if he feels he was wrongly treated.

Disturbance: Richlawn Road

Officers were dispatched to Richlawn Road on June 7 after a caller reported a woman who was intoxicated and threatening others, and herself, while saying she had a knife.

Officers found the woman sitting in a tent in her driveway in front of a TV that was smashed open with a hammer. She had a large knife near her but had no wounds, and was crying and talking about not trusting her own thoughts.

The woman’s boyfriend was hiding in a nearby shed, and told police he locked himself in the shed and had missed most of the emotional distress. Officers had the man exit the shed and spoke separately with both him and the 911 caller.

After officers spoke with the woman, she agreed to be voluntarily transported to Marymount Hospital.

Unruly juvenile: Southern Road

On June 7, a woman went to Richfield Police Station to report her 16-year-old daughter was missing after the two got into a verbal disagreement earlier that night.

Following the dispute, the daughter left home on her bike without her cell phone or any belongings. Her mother provided a description of her daughter and said she was headed northbound on Southern Road towards West Streetsboro Road. Officers headed that way and began searching the area.

However, the daughter’s father called in to dispatch shortly after and advised police that she had returned home.
