Man assaults wife during argument over grandchild’s behavior: Lyndhurst police blotter

An elderly woman riding a powered shopping cart drove out of the Giant Eagle store at Legacy Village with stolen shrimp. The woman rode the cart to her car and drove away without being apprehended.

Domestic violence: Chickadee Lane

At 11:30 p.m. June 10, dispatch received a 911 call in which a male and female were heard screaming a distance away from the phone. At the home, responding officers learned that the male and female were a married couple, both 71. They were having an argument about the behavior of their grandchild.

During that argument, the man struck his wife in the head. According to the woman, her husband was intoxicated. Police charged the man with domestic violence.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 5:05 p.m. June 10, police were called to Giant Eagle, 25105 Cedar Road at Legacy Village, where a theft was taking place. Officers arrested the two suspects, both of Cleveland. Arrested were a man, 24, and a woman, 23.

The theft totaled $148.08. Both were charged with theft.

Disturbance: Cedar Road

At 9:30 a.m. June 9, police were called to the pharmacy at Giant Eagle about an irate customer who caused a disturbance before leaving. An officer spoke on the phone with the customer, a Shaker Heights man, 81, and told him he was no longer allowed at the pharmacy.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 11:55 a.m. June 9, an employee of Giant Eagle reported that an elderly woman wearing a black coat and riding a power shopping cart stole shrimp and drove the cart through the store’s lot to a gold Chevrolet vehicle. She then drove away southbound on Richmond Road.

Police were unable to locate the Chevy.

Auto theft: Mayfield Road

At 1:45 p.m. June 9, a Mayfield Heights man, 34, reported that his Dodge Durango had been stolen from the lot of a dental office at 5539 Mayfield Road. The vehicle has not been recovered.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 4:50 p.m. June 7, security at Nordstrom Rack, 25149 Cedar Road at Legacy Village, detained a woman for shoplifting a purse, bag and sandals totaling $549.91.

Police charged the 50-year-old Cleveland woman with theft.

Theft: Mayfield Road

At 11:25 a.m. June 6, an employee of Pet Supplies Plus, 5092 Mayfield Road, reported that a male walked out of the store with a bag of dog food for which he did not pay.

The dog food was valued at $65. The suspect has not been identified.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 4:10 p.m. June 5, employees at Fried & Roth Orthodontics, 29001 Cedar Road, reported that someone went into their purses and took from them wallets and credit cards. The employees received notifications that fraudulent transactions had been made on their accounts.

One victim, a Pepper Pike woman, 59, reported that $1,537.85 and $680 in cash had been taken from her account. The other victim, a Willoughby Hills woman, 58, learned that $404.94 and $500 in cash had been taken using her card. The purses were kept in an unsecured area.

A suspect has not been identified. The matter is under investigation.
