Man carjacked in downtown Cleveland on Wednesday morning

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland police say a man was carjacked downtown Wednesday morning.

A 27-year-old man was driving in the 800 block of Huron Road at about 8 a.m. when two men left another vehicle and robbed the victim at gunpoint, police said.

The suspects assaulted the victim and drove off with his 2019 Dodge Ram pickup. It was last seen headed westbound on Interstate 90, police said.

Police said car thefts in the city have spiked in the past two years. Much of that has stemmed from thieves making off with Kias and Hyundais. But the numbers have increased for high-end cars, such as Dodge Hellcats, as well.

Paramedics treated the victim’s head, and the police investigation continues.
