African American Cultural Garden celebrates Juneteenth, adds Civil Rights Trail marker
On Juneteenth a celebration of the anniversary of freedom for enslaved individuals will take place at the African American Cultural Garden on MLKJr. Drive in Cleveland. At 11:45 a.m., the Cleveland Restoration Society will dedicate a historical marker on the site. As a result, the garden will become a designated spot on the Cleveland Civil Rights trail.
Lake View Cemetery’s Garfield Memorial closes until Spring 2024
If you want to visit The James A. Garfield Memorial in Lake View Cemetery, get there before 4 p.m., Sunday, June 18. When the monument closes that evening it will remain closed until spring 2024. That’s because the third and final phase of the tower’s renovations begin Monday, June 19.
