Kaitlin Durbin is a government reporter on the Public Interest and Advocacy team for cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer. She covers all things Cuyahoga County, including council actions, the executive office and agencies that receive county money. Some of her work includes the debate over building a new county jail, public funding for sports stadiums, and continuing coverage of 'chaos' in the Division of Children and Family Services office, which won third place in the 2023 National Headliner Award. Prior to moving Cleveland in the fall of 2021, she covered crime -- homicides, cold cases and police-involved shootings -- for nine years in Mansfield, Toledo and Colorado Springs, CO. She also created and previously hosted two podcasts: Colorado Cold Case and Code 18: Unsolved. She graduated from Ohio Northern University with a Bachelor's in journalism in 2012.
