SAN FRANCISCO – Two Ohio hamburger restaurants have been named to Yelp’s Top 100 Burger Spots in the U.S. list.
The rankings were compiled to celebrate National Burger Day on May 28, and include a variety of different burgers from states and cities across America.
Bareburger in Columbus, Ohio, ranked 51st on Yelp’s Top 100 Burger Spots list. The restaurant has a 3.5/5-star rating on Yelp, including 195 five-star reviews out of 569 total reviews.
“Yes, we’re a burger joint. But we aren’t the type to be bogged down by labels. Our menu is filled with options for everyone regardless of their dietary preferences,” Bareburger’s website says. “Whether you’re 100% vegan, or you think ketchup is a vegetable (we won’t judge), at Bareburger there’s only one dietary restriction you’re limited to: food that’s made to taste great!”

Northstar Café, meanwhile, also ranked on the list. While Northstar has six restaurants across Ohio -- including the Van Aken District in Shaker Heights -- its Short North location in Columbus, specifically, ranked 100th on the Top Burgers list. The restaurant has a 4.5/5-star rating out of 1,282 Yelp reviews, including 724 five-star reviews.
“Most importantly, we’re extremely careful about the ingredients we use,” Northstar Café says on its website. “We choose locally grown, organic and artisan-produced foods not only to protect the environment and to support producers whose values are aligned with ours, but also so that we are serving the most wholesome and delicious food we can.”

The top five burgers in the U.S., according to Yelp, are:
1. Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q in Atlanta, Georgia
2. Minetta Tavern in New York, New York
3. Slutty Vegan in Atlanta, Georgia
4. Gordon Ramsay Burger in Las Vegas, Nevada
5. Father’s Office in Los Angeles, California
Yelp compiled its Top 100 Burger Spots list by identifying restaurants with a large concentration of reviews mentioning “burgers,” then ranked those businesses by measuring a number of factors, including ratings of reviews and total volume of ratings. All ranked restaurants have a passing health score as of Feb. 8, according to Yelp.
