CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Pro Football Focus released its list of the NFL’s top 32 offensive guards ahead of 2023. The Browns guard tandem of Joel Bitonio and Wyatt Teller were both listed in the top 10, with Bitonio ranking third and Teller 10th
PFF’s Gordon McGuinness wrote this about Bitonio:
“Bitonio has gotten better with age. His past three seasons earned the highest grades of his nine-year career, and he ranked inside the top five in PFF grade in each of those campaigns. He turns 32 in 2023, but with PFF pass-blocking grades of 80.0 or better in each of the past seven seasons, there should be no immediate worry about any significant drop-off.”
McGuinness had this to say about Teller:
“Teller came back down to earth a little in 2022 after two really strong seasons as a run blocker with the Browns in 2020 and 2021. Despite that, his 70.3 PFF grade in 2022 was still the 18th-best mark at the position. He ranked inside the top five in each of the previous two seasons.”

Bitonio kept consistent in 2022 as one of the best guards, and somehow keeps progressing. He ranked second in offensive grade (87.5), third in run blocking (84.4) and 11th in pass blocking (80.2). Bitonio only allowed one sack and 13 quarterback hurries.
For how effective Teller is known to be on the line, one wouldn’t guess his grades took a dip in 2022. Among offensive guards, Teller still ranked 18th in offensive grading (70.3) and tied for 11th in run blocking (70.3), but he slid to 34th in pass blocking (67.9). He also hit a career mark in sacks allowed (four) for the second consecutive season, and in quarterback hurries (26).
